WHAT CAN HAPPEN WHEN YOU JUMP INTO THE SEA WITHOUT KNOWING HOW TO SWIM?

Maui is a rare bird on our stages. Unclassifiable and captivating, such is María Luisa Ramírez, Maui for the art, born in Utrera, one of the cradles of flamenco. A different way of understanding art, an artist and creator who blurs borders and stereotypes with her blend of music, theatricality, rhythm, humour and a subtly overwhelming personality.

Puerto Alegría is her most theatrical and bold work to date. An unusual journey through the adventures and misadventures of an artist who, unable to swim, set off in her small boat across a sea of doubts with curiosity as her lit beacon. The sway of the waves, a very inhabited solitude, a fishing rod, the oar of perseverance, her kaleidoscope, and wit as her rudder are some of the elements with which, surprisingly, our protagonist always manages to reach safe harbour.

Based on real events, but with small doses of fantasy, plenty of humour and songs, this new proposal allows us to get inside the eccentric and colourful character of Maui, who once again seduces the spectator up close and reveals never-before-told truths from the other side of music
